Great news: Iranian women’s rights defenders Yasaman Aryani and Monireh Arabshai have been released! Yasaman, Monireh and Mojgan were jailed for peacefully campaigning against Iran’s discriminatory and abusive forced veiling laws. Mojgan was conditionally released early last year and Yasaman and Monireh remained in prison. They spent nearly 4 years in prison before finally being released.
Thousands donated and signed petitions as part of our campaign for the release of Yasaman and Monireh.
Iranian women continue to risk everything to make their voices heard. Iran’s authorities must release other women’s rights defenders unjustly behind bars for standing up for their human right to protest.
